Pergola Design-Build

This build was part of a larger project to convert an existing detached garage into an ADU. Standing in the the same 20' x 22' footprint that the original 8 foot tall pergola occupied over this backyard patio, the new structure was designed two feet higher to add a sense of expanse and openness to the space while maintaining proportion to the adjacent structure. With simple but tasteful napa rafter tails and legacy style knee bracing the overall design gives one a sense of uncomplicated elegance.
